From a young age, he knew he wanted to serve his country, and in 2009 he was assigned to Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Illinois. Over the course of his four deployments, Captain Cyr accumulated more than 1,700 hours of flight time, 900 of which were in combat. Commander Colonel David Almand, of the 375th Air Mobility Wing, called him “an outstanding pilot, and a dedicated airman.”"
